Where can I find more information on your current?

While we are a teaching group, we would hope that Seekers would have some basis in the traditional cunning arts. The serious general study of the underlying shamanic, animist, polytheist, nature-based mysticism that underpins everything known today by academics as Germanic traditional witchcraft is very helpful.  The Way of Wyrd by Brian Bates and The Underworld Initiation by RJ Stewart are excellent starting points. We also recommend the detailed study of Northern/Western European cultural anthropology and history as well.  From this you may begin your journey if you have not already done so.

Why doesn’t The Mountain Ash Grove have public open "circles"?

Our inner workings are private, and our practices are beneath the rose. We never use the term "circle", preferring the more traditional compass ring or round. When a group is involved it is essential that everyone be “on the same page” and able to concentrate on the work at hand without distractions or interruptions. We also respect the safety and privacy of our brothers and sisters. Our inner workings are Hidden for good reason.

Who is your High Priest or Priestess?

We have no priests or priestesses, nor do we indulge in unnecessary “degrees” or titles. We have purely organizational offices that perform certain necessary functions. We sometimes use certain archaic terms as general descriptors, but we do not indulge in hierarchical egotism. Our members are perfectly capable of performing our works alone or in company.

What is your current about?

The left-hand fork in the ghost road, on the path to Elfhame.  Our current is an arcane initiatory praxis based on an essential understanding of the Universe as “All That Is, Seen and Unseen” as expressed in Wyrd, and with a working relationship with the Spirits that Abide and the Powers that Be. There is no influence by popular modern currents like Wicca, Freemasonry, OTO, Golden Dawn, or Cultus Sabbati to be found here. We work and study as the village sorcerers and conjurers of old, with ways that precede the Christian and Eastern influences found in later times. Much of our wisdom comes from those older and wiser than ourselves, but we zealously honor our oaths of secrecy. We acknowledge the primacy of the individual with our general framework, and encourage members to follow wherever their personal path leads them.  We do not acknowledge any "rede" or "code". We understand the concepts of balance and wyrd, and we simply abide by the old traditional imperative: We do what is necessary.

Do you accept new members?

Yes, we welcome anyone who shares our vision and fits in well with the other members. Membership is a matter of invitation to the inner circle...initiation is an Otherworld matter. We are happy to consider both the Seeker and the accomplished. The Mountain Ash Grove, being a new current, is small and close-knit. We are brothers and sisters in an arcane Art who share a bond of kinship with their ancestors and the sacred Land. People who are interested in us should begin with correspondence with our Man in Black.
